International Buddhist Society’s new website, live!

The temple’s website has been thoroughly updated to include more information and features than ever before! We encourage everyone to visit to learn more about Buddhism, our temple and how you can contribute to our various causes and services. For the first time, we will be using the benefits of technology and the Internet to propagate the Dharma. Visitors will now be able to access a variety of audio and video recordings of our abbot’s teachings in a virtual media library on their own time.

Accepting contributions for the renovation and expansion of Thousand Buddha Hall and Ksitigarbha (Ancestral) Hall

As the community at the temple grows in size, so must the temple itself keep up, to continue providing the best services to everyone. The Thousand Buddha Hall and Ksitigarbha (Ancestral) Hall are being renovated to meet the changing needs. Donors contributing $1,000, $2500, or $5000 will have their names engraved in stone, at the entrance of the specific hall.

The Venerable’s latest Chinese language books are now
available in the Gracious Hall

A Bouquet of Incense from the Heart 心香一炷 is a compilation of the Venerable’s 2004-2005 inspiring articles written for Hong Kong’s Buddhist Compassion Magazine. This follows the Venerable’s previous two books - Happiness Originates from the Mind 快樂從修心開始(2003) and How to Attain Happiness by Appeasing One’s Mind 安心常樂 (2004).

Prajna-Paramita Hirdya Sutra Commentary 心經要義 provides a detailed sentence-by-sentence analysis, interpretation and commentary of the profound sutra, which pinpoints the very essence of the Buddha’s teachings.

New plasma TV screens adorn cafeteria walls

The kind generosity of Lily King, Sau Lan Wan, and Dominic Kwok & family has allowed the temple to purchase two new Toshiba plasma televisions. They currently grace the walls of the cafeteria, showing Dharma videos during weekends and special ceremonial days. Visitors may enjoy recordings of the Venerable Guan Cheng’s lectures, and Dharma videos of other respected Buddhist leaders.
